Community Input Wanted on Future of Office in Tysons

Tysons, VA – Fairfax County is reviewing its long-range land use plan for office designated areas in Tysons. All who visit, live, or work in Tysons are encouraged to take this survey and help shape how these areas develop. As part of the effort, officials are seeking community input through an online survey open through Sunday, June 14.

Tysons Plaza is proposing replacing one of its office buildings with a mid-rise apartment and retail space. This reflects a regional shift where office visitation remains below pre-pandemic levels while housing demand rises, with projections suggesting Tysons may need over 10,000 new homes by 2040.

The study includes multiple nominated sites—such as Corporate Ridge, Valo Park, and Tysons Plaza—as well as other office-designated parcels throughout Tysons. Some of these areas are located along major corridors like Jones Branch Drive, Tyco Road, and Old Courthouse Road.

Feedback gathered through the survey will help inform recommendations on whether certain office-designated areas should be reimagined for housing, mixed-use development, or other purposes. It will also shape guidance on infrastructure, public spaces, and long-term urban design.

Residents can submit input through the county’s online survey, open until June 14 and can take up to approximately 10 minutes. The Tysons Office Designated Areas Planning Survey is available on the following County website.
