FPYC Sports: Building Community Through Youth Athletics in Fairfax

The Fairfax Police Youth Club (FPYC Sports) is a long-standing nonprofit organization dedicated to youth development through athletics in Fairfax, Virginia and surrounding communities. For more than 65 years, FPYC has played a central role in providing structured, community-based sports programs that emphasize teamwork, leadership, and personal growth alongside athletic skill development.

FPYC provides year-round opportunities across a broad selection of athletic programs. These include basketball, soccer, lacrosse, field hockey, football (flag and tackle), volleyball, wrestling, running, cheerleading, and more.

This diversity allows children of different interests and abilities to participate, whether they are trying a sport for the first time or continuing to develop competitive skills. The organization supports both recreational and travel-level play depending on the program and age group.

One of FPYC’s most popular offerings is its soccer program, which serves players from early childhood through high school (ages 4–18). The program is designed to be inclusive, focusing on development, enjoyment, and sportsmanship.

The recreational soccer season typically runs in structured cycles of about 10 weeks, with most teams playing around 8 games on Saturdays. Younger age groups often play in the mornings, while older divisions may have games scheduled throughout the day.

Because FPYC is heavily volunteer-based, parents and community members play a major role in coaching, organizing teams, and supporting events. This community-driven model helps keep participation costs relatively low while maintaining a strong local connection.

With thousands of participating families annually, FPYC has become one of the most established youth sports organizations in the Fairfax area. Its mission centers on making sports accessible while ensuring a positive and safe environment for children to grow.
